Related Discipline ECS cards are for those working in specialised electrotechnical disciplines, but do not carry out any electrical installation work. Their work is typically aligned to or in support of the electrical industry but is not already covered by a core ECS card.
The ECS Related Discipline cards available are:
- Field Engineer
- Equipment Installer
- AV Engineer
- Aerial and Satellite Engineer
- Security Systems Installer
- Control Systems Engineer
If you have not held this card before: please apply as per the requirements below. Initial card requirements will be changing later in the year and will be shown on this page when available.
If you already hold this card: once the new qualification is available you will not be able to renew it against the old criteria and will need to meet the new requirements. You will also need to transfer to one of the new occupations listed above. Download our guidance on which card you should transfer to based on your existing card.
Eligibility and requirements
The ECS is introducing new qualification requirements for initial Related Discipline ECS cards – these will be announced soon. Until these new requirements are launched, the current requirements are as detailed below.
At present, to be eligible for an ECS Related Discipline card, applicants must:
1) Provide a detailed job description from your employer, detailing the type of work undertaking, along with a formal job title. (The ECS Related Discipline card issued will be the most appropriate from the occupations available).
2) Hold a current ECS Health, Safety and Environmental Assessment. For details visit the ECS H&S Assessment page.
